Pavan K. Punukollu, MD grew up in North Andover, MA and volunteered at Lawrence General Hospital as a teenager. Dr. Punukollu did his undergraduate work at Tufts University in electrical engineering, graduating with honors, and then attended Tufts University School of Medicine. Following medical school, he traveled to the midwest for his residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where he graduated in 1996. He then completed a Neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Michigan, and subsequently earned a certificate of added qualifications (CAQ) in the subspecialty. After two years in private practice, Dr. Punukollu returned to academic medicine to complete a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Oklahoma.
After fellowship, Dr. Punukollu traveled back to the Midwest to a regional medical center in a small town in Ohio. He put his varied skills to use there for the next thirteen years. More recently, Dr. Punukollu undertook a third fellowship, in Musculoskeletal Radiology, at the University of Florida. He finished this fellowship in 2018.
Dr. Punukollu and his wife, who is also a physician, decided in the last several years to return to Massachusetts to be closer to their family and to allow their two children to take advantage of the area schools. Prior to coming to L&M Radiology, he worked at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, but he has now come full-circle to work with L&M Radiology at Lawrence General Hospital.
Outside of work, Dr. Punukollu and his family enjoy New England’s historic towns as well as the woods and beaches. Dr. Punukollu has been an avid Patriots fan for decades. Dr. Punukollu enjoys movies and gourmet food, as well as being a technophile who enjoys learning about new technology and its beneficial uses.
